Philosophy
I approach painting with a simple philosophy; a successful piece of art, no matter the subject or material used, should touch an emotion inside of the viewer and evoke a response.  I judge and scrutinize my work endlessly before it is seen by the public. However, discovering the opinions of the people analyzing my work ultimately is the reason I create the work in the first place. In my opinion, art should be soothing to the soul, it should be something that makes you excited to live, creating enthusiasm, and make someone passionate about who they are and what they stand for.

Process
When I begin a painting I try to narrow my original idea down to the most essential elements: concept, color, space and emotion. My composition usually is created by the centralization of the focal point and my use of color is derived from an abstraction of reality. I have found that my emotions play a large part in how a painting turns out so I try to capture every feeling, good or bad, and express them with paint. Although my subject matter might change, my elementary concept does not. Paint is applied in various techniques with various consistency to the paint until I feel it is finished.

History/Education
Born in Santa Barbara California, and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California, the imagery of my youth consisted primarily of cityscapes with the occasional glimpse of a sun-drenched desert climate. I, at an early age, began to idealize the colors I saw in nature, in essence creating an imaginary picture in my mind. I grew up in a Waldorf school where I studied "anthroposophy."- an educational curriculum that focuses on a child being a unique individual encouraged to explore his or her own creative potential. After graduating from high school, I attended junior colleges until deciding to focus completely on art and obtain a Bachelors in Art from California State University Long Beach. I have since been selling my work through the art show circuit on the west coast and few selected galleries.
